The UWS-Oxfam Partnership engages with a wide range of civil society organisations because they, as local community groups, have first-hand knowledge of and experience with poverty and inequality in their areas. They therefore often have the best understanding of how policy can help or hinder when it comes to tackling the causes of poverty and inequality. The strong links between the Partnership and community groups have also created opportunities to UWS students to contribute to the Partnership’s projects and have allowed them to gain valuable experience through work placements, internships and their own small-scale research projects.
Amongst the local community organisations and local communities the Partnership has worked with are:
Beith Community Development Trust
Linwood Community Development Trust
Clydebank Independent Resource Centre
